We are thrilled and excited to announce that as of July 1st, 2020, the South Regional Catholic Elementary Schools (SRCES) was incorporated.
Which schools are in our region?
Who are the Board of Directors?
Each Catholic elementary school in the south region of the Diocese of Pittsburgh is now governed by a Board of Directors and administered by a Regional Administrator and Regional Business Manager. SRCES' Board of Directors is composed of pastors from each parish grouping and lay leaders who are experts in
their fields.
Regional Administrator -Erin Rice
Regional Business Manager - Carlos Leyva III
What does this mean in real terms?
Much of the day-to-day school operation remains the same. Principals run their schools as usual but now with the guidance of the Regional Administrator and Regional Business Manager.
What is the benefit of regionalization?
One of the main benefits of regionalization is the ability to unite as a community. Our schools can now combine buying power to decrease the cost of goods and services. Regionalization also means we can standardize Catholic Education and administrative processes across the region, which equates to better use
of resources, and the ability to offer extended programs such as athletics and other extracurricular activities. As a community, we can come together in fundraising ventures and provide a more focused and unifying message to our communities.
What are the goals of SRCES?
Administrators and board members are dedicated to providing passionate Catholic Education. During
this transition time, the board will evaluate each school's financial viability to ensure we can provide
our communities with a lasting Catholic institution that we all can rely on. More tangible goals include
assisting our schools to meet their fundraising goals. We will start off with our first Regional Fundraiser - Giving Tuesday, which will launch the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, December 1, 2020.
How can I help/get involved?
Without the dedication of our families, Catholic Education would not be possible. With parent encouragement and community support, we can show the surpassing value of a passionate Catholic Education. Our schools will remain strong with your continued commitment, and our region's image will grow and be a shining light. Consider doing the following to support our region:
• Spread the word about our region by following us on Instagram and Facebook - @SRCESpgh.
By keeping up with us on social media, you will be informed of what is happening in our region and get updates on all the fantastic things our students are doing.
• Participate and encourage others to participate in the region's Giving Tuesday. SRCESpgh.org/GIVE
• The proceeds directly support our schools and allow the region to continue to promote Catholic Elementary Education.
• If you would like to volunteer for the region in general fundraising, image recognition, and community outreach, please contact the Regional Business Manager, Carlos Leyva III - at [email protected]
• We also ask for your prayers as we build and support our community.
What's Next?
It is no surprise that fundraising this year is drastically different than in the past, which is why we are encouraging our community to spread the word about the Regional Giving Tuesday fundraiser. Our goal is to share the Good News and spread the good news about our students' success on Facebook and Instagram. Be sure to follow @SRCESpgh. We will also provide our parents with regular updates via email.
Thank you all for your involvement, and send Carlos Leyva any questions that you may have -
