A Message from Archangel Gabriel School President- Dr. Christine Assetta
I am truly honored to join the Archangel Gabriel School leadership team. I began my educational career teaching third grade at St. John the Evangelist School in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The three years that I taught in a parochial school were very fulfilling as I contributed to both the spiritual and academic growth of my students. In August, 2018, I retired from a thirty-one year career at the West Allegheny School District. I was a third grade teacher for thirteen years, acted as an Elementary Assistant Principal for five years, and served as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for thirteen years. Throughout my years at West Allegheny, I took pride in being a member of an educational team with the goal of providing rigorous, engaging instruction to our students. I additionally served as Duquesne University adjunct professor for ten years, and currently act as University of Pittsburgh adjunct professor and student teacher supervisor.
As Archangel Gabriel School President, I am responsible for managing the achievement of all AGS goals related to
strategic and long-term planning. As AGS Principal, Mrs. Militzer is responsible for the
daily operations and administration of the school. While I am responsible for long-term stability and Mrs. Militzer oversees the functional routines, we collaborate to address issues such as faith formation, instructional and program development, and parent involvement. We work very closely as a team as we hold a shared vision for Archangel Gabriel School and agree on the importance of building a community in which all stakeholders (including teachers, parents, and students) are welcomed, valued, and directly involved in contributing to the success of AGS.
It is exciting to collaborate with the Archangel Gabriel School professional team, students, and parent community as we establish objectives to build a culture for learning that embraces both our Catholic faith and scholastic outcomes. As a life-long Catholic and a member of the Holy Trinity Parish for over thirty years, I feel very blessed to be able to contribute to this spiritual and academic endeavor. This is an exciting time for our Parish and educational community. I appreciate the warm welcome from the AGS community and look forward to contributing to your child/children’s educational experiences.
